Outback Queensland Grant Writing Workshops

In September 2024, I travelled to the heart of Outback Queensland to deliver two grant writing workshops in the rural communities of Longreach (Saturday 7th September) and Winton (Sunday 8th September). These grant writing workshops were supported by the Central Queensland Regional Arts Services Network (CQ RASN), Longreach Regional Council, Winton Shire Council and the Regional Arts Fund.

These three-hour Grant Writing for the Arts workshops were complemented by one-on-one grants mentoring sessions made available to participants in Longreach across Friday 6th - Saturday 7th September. These mentoring sessions focused on identifying relevant grant opportunities as well as advice and guidance on project planning and addressing assessment criteria. The workshops were attended by 23 participants from the Longreach, Winton and Barcaldine regions seeking skills, tools and knowledge to develop local grant writing capabilities.

This was my first visit to this part of Outback Queensland, and I enjoyed snippets of free time to explore local arts and cultural offerings in the townships of Longreach and Winton - a return visit is already on my to-do list!
